Gastronomy and chocolate are in the spotlight for a festival of flavours

At the end of this month, and through much of October, Paris celebrates one of the most characteristic aspects of the capital and, indeed, of France in general: the art of eating well! Following this month’s Gastronomy Festival you are invited to participate in Taste Week from October 10th. This month full of flavour will then culminate in the Salon du Chocolat, to the delight of gourmets everywhere!

The Gastronomy Festival in Paris

Every year since 2011, France has placed her culinary heritage in the spotlight at the end of summer / beginning of autumn by celebrating the Fête de la Gastronomie. This year the festival will be held over three days; Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of September, and the 2016 theme will be ‘eat better to live better’. As always the festival will feature live cooking demonstrations and tastings, workshops and exhibitions, and many other activities as diverse as they are exciting. The aim of these events is to showcase the many facets of French cuisine, the product diversity of our regions and make the joys of the table accessible to as many people as possible. Whether you’re a fine cook, a great gourmand or simply want to know what all the excitement is about, come along to this national celebration of good food and discover the skills of those involved in the French haute cuisine scene. You’ll have a wonderful, and delicious, time!

A treat for your taste buds

A full week is devoted to the pleasures of our sense of taste in October. Good cuisine is a source of pleasure but also a way to stay healthy, so this week is an ideal opportunity to learn while having fun! The 27th Semaine du Goût (Taste Week) is an opportunity for young and old to learn or relearn how to eat well, to enjoy all flavours to their fullest, and cultivate good habits in relation to food and its consumption. The culinary arts, as the term suggests, require much creativity and know-how. From October 10th to 16th a wide range of participating restaurants in Paris offer a gastronomic celebration so you can enjoy conviviality and fine eating, as you will discover during your stay at the Hotel Daunou Opera!

Enter a world of chocolate

From Friday, October 28th to Tuesday, November 1st, 2016, the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre welcomes chocolate fans of all ages to the world’s greatest trade fair devoted to their passion. The Salon du Chocolat gives gourmets the opportunity to sample the creations of leading chocolatiers and pastry chefs while, via talks, demonstrations and exhibitions, learning about the cocoa bean, how it is processed, its health benefits and history as a foodstuff. The Chocolate Fashion Show, which features models parading in chocolate couture, is also a spectacle not to be missed! You won’t leave the event empty-handed, either; you can purchase chocolate products from around the world for a unique taste experience to take back with you to enjoy at your Hotel Daunou Opera.
